I don't understand why people are so concerned/threatened by AI art when it hasn't produced anything that's worthy of out doing human art

An overwhelming majority of people don't like AI art so its not even a threat

I can see if AI music art and movies and paintings were making legit waves in terms of critical acclaim and doing numbers but damn near every attempt has been ridiculed cause yeah it sucks (currently at least)

If AI art becomes mainstream at some point what will most likely happen any way is that fully human made art is going to have a luxury status because that will be the new rarity

  • is this lowkey a diss/response to recent events?

The fear isn't about where AI is now it's about the direction it's headed in. We're already witnessing labels not investing in developing artists, it's just not good for the artform.

Yeah, there will always be real musicians and real artists making great s***, but eventually the labels will force some generative AI bullshit and people will get fatigued resisting it and/or the mass audience that doesn't really care and won't be able to tell the difference

We've seen Streaming change music for the worse, we've seen Tik Tok change music for the worse, it's valid to fear AI changing music for the worse

AI is just a tool, but in the wrong hands, it can become a weapon

    It’s in the wrong hands

Labels can save money letting AI make algorithm music for casual listeners. So that’s what they’ll do.

Which means less investing in young talented artists.

my thing is AI isn’t some entirely new corrupting force, it’s just another version of what the industry has already been doing.. labels already prioritize marketability and mass appeal over artistry, and ghostwriters, formulaic songwriting, and industry plants have been around forever. So if people are cool with that, then why is AI suddenly the line in the sand? Resistance to manufactured music has already been wearing down, people didn’t fight against ghostwriting or industry plants, so why single out AI specifically?

As for labels investing less in real artists, sure that’s likely, but hasn’t that already been happening? A lot of today’s biggest acts aren’t "real" artists in the traditional sense either... this concern isn’t specific to AI, it’s just a continuation of where the industry has been heading for years. to me, the real issue is that the industry prioritizes mass consumption over artistry, and that’s been true long before AI entered the picture

I just don't get why we throwing up pitchforks to AI but not the other bs that's been going on.. why we acting like we really care?

If AI can truly make better music, then s***, maybe they got it and we gotta respect it at that point, but imo that’s a big IF, because human emotion and connection are irreplaceable and AI is nowhere near good at generating that art-wise.. fans don’t just listen to music, they invest in the artist’s story, their physical presence, their personality, their struggles, etc. AI might be able to mimic some of that, but it’ll likely always be secondhand. And even if AI does lead to more generic, soulless music, that’s not necessarily the end of artistry.. historically, new waves of music (hip-hop, punk, grunge etc) have always emerged in response to industry stagnation. If anything, AI slop could and will likely be like a catalyst for some next level s*** in music in response to the generated BS. We shouldn't feel threatened, we should be inspired

Cole lowkey suffers from Eminem syndrome. Dude is an incredible rapper but his songwriting is inconsistent all over the place. Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s straight up ass. It feels like he really needs a producer to work with consistently him and shape/curate his output. I say this as a fan of Cole’s

The biggest thing I’m worried about for The fall off, need that beat selection to be on point as well if he wants it to be his magnum opus
