My assumptions: Jay Z did not appreciate that song from an artist who he signed.

Gkmc the biggest 2010s debut plus the highest sold besides drake, it even sold the same amount its 2nd year as it did it first (which is rare n hard af to do to make year 2 the same or better as year 1, i dont think anyone else has done that from his peers of the 2010s including Drake). Thats crazy numbers & its currently the highest week to week streamed Rap album on the charts, Take Care is 2nd. He also always outsold n went plat faster than Cole since GKMC. Only exception is that BS by Cole had a bit of a better FW than GKMC, but it didnt go plat nowhere near as fast as GKMC n again, GKMC is way higher overall.
Gkmc literally put the west back on the map n he became USA best seller since then & to this day. He even got a remix verse from Jay just off the strengths of gkmc n Kanye took him under his wing for the second leg of the Yeezus tour as his opener plus mentored him for a bit.
His Control verse upsetted the entire east coast (where multiple underground n some mainstream rappers literally responded to him directly in songs mainly + interviews n twitter, including some people like KRIT n Mac. N some Rappers were literally pissed they werent named) n hes the only Rapper that got Drake in his feelings. His verse was so big it treneded for a literal month on twitter n everyone plus YT n Google thot it was his song for a long ass time, not Seans. And he mentioned all those names (including Drake) because those were all his peers lol n popping, he also worked with all of them at the time.
So it was friendly comp shouout. Which is why ppl like 2 chainz wasnt shout out cuz he never worked with him directly yet. Gkmc was so big dude toured non stop on his own in USA, then kanye worlwide, then on his again worldwide for 3 years until TPAB.
He was top 3 (n still is) & many people from peers to legends & media + audience crowned him as so, n he only got bigger from there.
People forget how big GKMC was n still is, n on ktt2 try to downplay how crazy impactful Control was. Literally the biggest debut from a Rapper (minus Drake) with crazy hype.
He's always been number 2 overall n number 1 usa of 2010s to now Rappers, n the only Rapper that has ever matched or outsold Drake in the same year (with Damn v More Life) until Dark (uzi outsold) n now HN (Future + Kendrick).
He's been out here n been propped up n popped lol.
