You’re right I guess it’s wrong to be an artist that actually releases music and gives people the soundtrack to moments in their lives you’d rather an artist that disappears for 3 years at a time to “evolve”.

Drake is a singles artists, he has 50 times more the amount of successful singles that Kendrick has and he drops music non stop and collabs with every hot artist out there, I seriously can't believe that I have to explain this
DAMN. for example was the first rap album where every song has went at least gold
One is an albums artists and the other one is a singles artist
The fact that Kendrick is able to stay in these convos by being absent for 4 years with so much less music and saturation is far more impressive for him lol

I wanna see Drake go completely silent for 3 years and come out with an album that for once doesn't try to cater to casual music fans where he talks about more mature topics and let's see how well it works for him, nvm forgot that he's Toronto's Billie Eilish and he's not talented enough to pull off some s*** like this

Every song off Views and More Life is Platinum eligible and there are only about 3 songs off Scorpion that aren't Platinum eligible. Drake just hasn't updated his certifications.

How isn't Drake an album artist when his album catalog is the strongest of any artist currently?

Drake didn't drop an album in 2019 and still pulled more streams from his catalog than any other artist. Take Care/Noting Was the Same (both released before the streaming era) are 6/4x Platinum respectively. Stop talking out your ass.

All I said was that Kendrick's first week numbers for his next album will be lower than the numbers DAMN. did because his pure sale numbers will be considerably lower due to the decline of pure sales and bundles have been scrapped. Scorpion was the biggest album of 2018 and still didn't manage 200K pure sales in it's first week. That was 3 years ago and pure sales have only dropped harder since then. I believe Kendrick's album will be successful despite the lower debut numbers but you had to take that as a shot and turn to bashing Drake for no reason at all

selling your s*** with some merchandise where only the cd sales count toward sales is something that artists have been doing since the beginning of time and it's something he can still do if he decides to

and u could be right about drake's album sales idk i was going by riaa, those drake albums u mentioned are full of upbeat type s*** so it's not hard to believe but he still is a singles artist lol, he doesn't put much thought into making his albums or takes creative risks, his albums are like greatest hits compilations, which again proves my point that he is a singles artist, this man doesn't make albums he makes playlists, he continues working with the same formula cause it works for him and it's ok but if you actually take a kendrick album and put it next to a drake one it's actually laughable in comparison because kendrick will give you 2-3 songs max that will somewhat pass as radio songs where drake's albums are filled with them
the fact that kendrick sells as much as he does without dumbing down his music is impressive to me

and how much his next album sells depends on what direction he takes musically and how much promo he does, he can make an album full of radio poppy songs and pay people to make corny dances for them and maybe he will be able to compete with drake commercially idk or he can continue growing as an artist while caring about his artistic integrity we just have to wait and see
