Didn’t age the best overall but definitely a few cuts on here that still hold up
Cole was definitely still tryna work out his lane in the game on this album though
5/10 overall
its well known what happened with this album. jayz wasn't feeling his first round of tracks and they wanted more commercial s*** so he dropped most of those tracks on friday night lights. the album we got was not what he wanted. hes acknowledged hence y he said in the beginning of disc 2 track video "To do on my last what i was unable to do on my first"
Starting my Cole album re-listen today
Sideline Story playing right now
This album is… um… yeah..
Super ass
For me it’s that he doesn’t have any incredible projects
And he claimed to be the best and then ran away.
Such a lame nigga mind state, glad I'm not afflicted
Who tf even wants to participate in a rap beef nowadays? Seriously, s*** aint even entertaining, just a bunch of fickle fans taking out their insecurities and turning music into a culture war. Like half the people I see s***ting on Cole today are losers and angry at the world.
I understand why Cole said f*** all that s*** 😂😂
If Cole never instigated it by saying he the best, you wouldve been right
Lights Please is such a feat of songwriting even if the messaging did kind of age badly and isn’t as deep as it seemed back then. He made his point really well with the song and it was just a dope song. Hearing that was lowkey a life changing moment. That had me thinking he was Pac for real

Agreed
Skimming through Sideline Story and even in a post Kanye context with cudi and Drake rising god damn this is a sensitive emotional vulnerable debut album for a rapper like Cole coming under Hov at this time. This dude was ahead and extremely humble and tapped in. He bared his soul on this for better or worse. And it got some joints. Breakdown is a personal favorite of mine. It really is a Disney channel rap album and I kind of like that. 3 mics is probably fair.
Cole music and this album in particular feels so personal and sincere that it’s almost uncomfortable. He really one of the realest to do it

6/10. I agree with most of wat u said though. His worst project to me, that and KOD
Overall, Cole World: The Sideline Story sounds like an album at the climax of a 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie about a small-town rapper trying to break into the music industry
this is an accurate ass description lmfao
Just heard 7 Minute Drill after like 2 years and at the end he says ‘I could drop 2 classics right now’
He might be about to do that
I feel like ITS A BOY is scrapped or dropping after the fall off if anything
Might be the 2nd disc on this album

this is very accurate
Literally hip hop was built off beef
Built off beef witin our culture no billion dollar label involvement no pop culture garbage bringing in these adin ross losers its not what it was
If Cole never instigated it by saying he the best, you wouldve been right
Did Michelangelo diss Davinci in his art to try to prove his superiority? The art can speak for itself
Built off beef witin our culture no billion dollar label involvement no pop culture garbage bringing in these adin ross losers its not what it was
You genuinely don’t have to be consuming that nonsense, not letting those losers dictate the genre
Literally hip hop was built off beef
And matter of fact thats a lie hip hop was built through community with djs looping records and people rapping on them at block parties what is this ??
Looks like taebeast has a beat on here. Posted a pic of the cover on his IG
Damn hopefully we got Kendrick on here, these mfs owe us at least one, there's no way this is Cole's last album and we still don't have a Cole & Kendrick song
I feel like ITS A BOY is scrapped or dropping after the fall off if anything
Man that s*** was teased in what 2019? I think he's since realized no one wants to hear dad raps and ion think he want to either
And matter of fact thats a lie hip hop was built through community with djs looping records and people rapping on them at block parties what is this ??
also built on soundclashes and DJ’s and MC’s battling against each other on stage, which is a friendlier og definition of the beef we know today lol
