I'm almost done my first listen of Disc 1 and I don't understand the hate/mixed reviews so far.
Reminds me of early Cole or FHD. Great lyricism and storytelling. Two Six is a banger, and then records like Legacy, Run a Train and Safety are nice.
Disc 1 is awesome then disc 2 lower the energy way too much
Some of y'all aren’t built for release day impressions.
They doin that thing you do when you know an album aint hitting like you want it to hit so they using the typical buzzwords to talk themselves (e.g. “into sleeping with it”) that it’s a better album than it really is.
Forum can tell you it took 2 listens for me to know MM was gonna be one of my fav k dot albums in his discography
I walked into this with no prior expectations. No sleepy s*** no stanning and it’s a solid album
two six is cool
i’m interested to hear the rest
I know most people ITT didnt actually listen to the album
Because how is there no old fashioned discourse about those wild bars on SAFETY?
Because we listen to the whole song within context so we not offended or trying to get a hot take out?
His flows are solid
I’m a fan but I catch myself thinking if you grab the best tracks from Disc 2 (like Intro, Track 2, Old Dog) and you swap all the slow/love songs from Disc 1 (so like 12 max) with it, most folks would be considering it his best right outta the gate
Meditating for a better state in my deranged mind
Till I saw the Buddha pose and realized he throwin' gang signs
I guess the lesson is you can't escape crime
What is wrong with this guy
When cole be getting deep you can tell that bookshelf at home was like 10 deep
Move Old Dog and Man Up Above to disc 1 and it’s a great album. Disc 2 was not necessary
Wonder where this wouldve been on here
he shoulda kept this

Parasocial ass
you're not fully digesting a 24 track album in one day. live with it, play in different settings. there are songs i didnt like until my 10 time listening in a new context.
i just think it shows impatience. in a world where everything is about impulse and instant gratification you're not giving yourself a chance for it to sit with you. people can say its about taste or what resonates with you, but if you're changing an album day one i dont think you're respecting the artists vision and really tryna to view the album thru their eyes with their intentions.
theres only been enough time to listen to the album like three times back to back unless you havent slept which in and of itself will cause someone to be more impatient.
to each their own tho
beautiful post
