    Idk if I’d call this a complaint, but in seeking to make the undeniable masterwork of his career Cole fell into the trope of borrowing from previous classics. Midway through disc 2 it starts feeling like every song is going to lean on a sample, interpolation, or generally emulating a more well-known / well-trod song

    He does it on every album but went OD with it on disc 2

    I get paying homage but at some point it’s like alight man I get it, You like classic hip hop

    Cole love songs are the last thing I wanted tbh, I think it’s his weakest subject

    Obviously it’s better but it’s giving The Big Day type vibes

    I just expected elite rapping and concepts on here. Lotta singing and love songs

    his love songs resonate with me but i understand how thats not everyone’s cup of tea
