morale honestly had worse initial reception

Definitely, I hated it at first was literally heated lol

But like by my fifth listen it clicked and I realized it was actually phenomenal

A lot of people are too ego invested to question their initial reactions to s*** though so if it doesn’t land immediately it will forever be ass to them and they feel like defending that opinion is standing on business lol

I ain’t like that, I’ll express my initial grievances but I always leave the door cracked for me to be wrong

starting disc 2 now, intro is crazy

crazy boring and i like the album

Cole failed miserably at his thesis statement

  • Oblivion X

off first listen there's some dope stuff here, but if you weren't really a cole fan before this this is not gonna convince you otherwise, not the undeniable classic that it needed to be after the beef, Don't know why he decided to be his most risky with his very last album. Also why you making an album for that long isn't always the best idea.

He doesn't care about public opinion or non Cole fans anymore

He freed himself from that burden

most interesting part of Cole’s career is how he’s consistently only released mid but somehow convinced the next gen that he’s their OG & should be respected when he was always Jae Millz tier

Hollon did you say Jae Millz what the f***

  • sfsorrow

i will never forget logic making a literal mf doom masked alter ego knockoff album called Doctor Boom or some s*** and pretending he wasn't even thinking of doom when he made it

    Doctor Boom

    Disc 29 10/10

    Disc 39 8/10

Gotta sit with Disc 39 more but I’m fully sold on Disc 1 being the best thing Cole’s ever done.

I agree with everything but the Jae Millz part lol

More like Big Sean or Wale, Cole is at the same level of artistry as those two but for whatever reason has been elevated to top-tier status.

There were some unique moments on here for him but he’s always been a traditional rapper from the school of someone like Nas. Lowkey can’t stand the ā€œwas it experimental? Who did it inspire?ā€ Type conversations because I’m like sometimes it’s not that deep just enjoy the music

Doesnt mean it's bad, but it does say something about artistry imo

Esp if you pull it off

Sean & Wale should’ve pushed artists the way Cole was so they’d be seen as OGs too

Nah this album clears Cole’s discography by a wide margin. Even if Disc 39 drags it down a bit.

That’s fine. I get it but it’s one of those things to me like know who you’re dealing with before it drops you know? Like if he dropped a country album or some s*** I’d be like damn I was not expecting this but all of this was def what I expected it to sound like with a few surprises here and there which were nice

He's had higher highs even on the bad albums and we have to judge these albums as a whole not just the parts we like

  • BigSkinny

He has so many story songs but I don’t care about what he’s saying. If the story catches you the song is good, but if it doesn’t

This is true for alot of people

Glad you were able to communicate this
