i lowkey think u were right about run a train being the best hook on there unfortunately lmao def grew on me the more i hear it
yeah me neither but i can imagine it’ll slap at the shows and im sure the city goin crazy with they own personal ‘banger’
Yeah I can see that for sure
disc 29 is honestly among the worst work i think cole has ever done cohesively. it doesn't even matter if he's rapping his ass off on some of it. it's extremely uninteresting and repetitive.
disc 39 is fine and more in line with typical cole. i'm disappointed by the lack of creativity or experimentation. everything is so basic and reuses too many elements.
i get cole is in his heart someone who cares about rap and no one is really doubting he is a good rapper technically. i wish he would, instead of trying to continually prove he can rap, prove he is good musically. outside of some cool samples every now and then there is nothing competitive within the genre here. hell, even Logic's 'retirement album' was better than this in terms of accomplishing and showing objectively what he was good at and why he was famous, regardless of i personally think of him
i shuffled the album on my 2nd and 3rd listens
waaaaay more enjoyable experience. i dont think there’s a bad song on the album now. i should’ve shuffled on first listen like i normally do
album is better by just not listening at all
sorry you feel that way
having a girl you can share the listening experience with might help, idk

J Cole has always been a safe option and I don't mean that as a slight. If all three guys in the big 3 are purists, Cole was the most devoted to the playbook and that's how he got fans who were endeared by that commitment, while the other two were more open to experiment.
