nah, I just realized a lot of people may not have had a chance to experience why FHD was considered such a classic and that’s cause of the massive effort he put into Born Sinner era

• the alleged collab album with Dot
• the album going number #1 the next week when Ye’s dropped down the charts
• the 10 $1 shows that same week to celebrate for the fans
• What’s Dreams May Come 60 show tour
• Revenge of the Dreamers 1
• him and Dot opening for Em in stadiums

and then 2014 FHD

I felt like that album came too late. I loved born sinner, it made me a Cole fan. After that album, I just really stopped checking for him.

Forbidden Fruit was getting him joked on the net (e.g. the infamous Big Ghost) cause that collab was teased and it was just kendrick giving him hooks and not a whole verse.

Him competing with ye was imo a clever way to take advantage of the way it was still cool to spite ye & also another way to diss ye (which mind you, all of this unprompted)

Him competing with ye imo showcased even more what separated him from ye in terms of skill. Production wise outside of Let Nas Down (and oh, its no ID), some of his laziest production was on that album (LAnd of the Snakes shoulda just been on truly yours, forbidden fruit as well)

And also never using this beat at the end of that trailer has always bugged me for decades.

There’s a reason Cole fans dont call born sinner his classic. Some great songs but nah.

Born sinner was bloated with a good handful of songs that just felt like whatever. Not good not bad but just there, a leftover issue from
TSS. Not to mention all the interludes and skits that didn't really add much and just felt like him trying his own version of college dropout/late registration. The standouts that we all know and love are great but the whole album failed to be up to that standard. FHD was much much closer with the consistency.

A big part of the criticism of born sinner was ppl comparing it to ye’s work since it dropped on the same day

yea as a big day 1 Cole fan, it slick took me a minute to get into FHD. i loved that grittiness of Born Sinner
