Man he’s really flowing like Nas on Safety, or is it just me that’s hearing these rhyme schemes and just picturing Nas rapping that

The Storm had a Nas and Eminem influence so it prolly checks out

  • Replayed it through. It's cool but nothing crazy to me. "Let out" I still don't like. The last verse on “Hit The Gas” feels super out of place and ruins the flow for me. Some of the stories across the songs just seem to blend and the stories themselves are not anything that blows your mind. Wish he brought in more hooks from other artists too...him doing most of them made it feel a bit stale after a while. Future was easily the standout feature.

Overall it’s solid but felt anti climactic for what’s supposed to be his “last” album (I don’t buy that for a second). The concept just doesn’t feel fully fleshed out to me either. He could have done so much more with it. 7/10

What if is crazy song like why tf he saying that s*** lol

He took pac and big action figures and said "now shake hands"

  • CRACKASTEPPAVEGAN

    Damn...trash?

I thought the same s*** on like the first 2 or 3 listens

Its super dense, a lot to take in on one pass and there aren't a lot of big collaboration event moments in the form of features or production. Also there are no obvious hits and a lot of the music is slower paced and more chill than your typical rap album (even by lyricist standards)

This album requires a lot of patience and its a lot to ask of a music listener for real with the culture moving so fast and everybody rushing to give their takes on all this content rushing at us.

But when you give it time I think its impossible to think its anywhere near trash, not perfect but great in the areas it matters most for a rapper of Cole's cloth

  • this is growing on me like crazy. some of his best songs ever on here

old dog, the let out, 39 intro, drum n bass>>>>

I think I figured out what it is with Cole that keeps me from being all the way engaged….

And singing aside cause besides hooks on rap heavy songs I don’t want to hear it, sorry.

When Cole was on his feature run that’s when he made me most hype for his music. He was rapping like the greatest rapper ever and you could hear the passion. I basically don’t care for anything else he has to say unfortunately. He just doesn’t give me enough depth or he will go off on these weird tangents that I feel like you really have to be a true fan of his to care for.

It’s not a bad album though and I think the expectations he set were just sky high and then not only that you spend half the album serenading and I respect that’s where his heart was at but it’s just not for me.

I always say my favorite verse from him is Johnny P’s Caddy; he left earth on that s*** and made one of the strongest cases for being the greatest I personally have ever heard. Had he just ignored Kendrick’s bait and just kept popping his s*** regardless I honestly think most people wouldn’t give a s***. He let Kendrick throw him out of his lane man… Cole honestly could have had a Wayne “best rapper alive” type run. When niggas challenged Wayne he didn’t try and go bar for bar with them niggas he either had a slick line at most here and there or ignored them completely and kept popping his s***. That’s what I wanted from J.Cole.

Let Kendrick be the one thirsty for battle; at the end of the day the fans was gon side with who they like sonically more anyway more often than not. It’s not that Fall Off is bad, it’s not especially disc 1 for me. It’s that had he not been forced to tip toe around his bread and butter it could have been way better.

Cole’s fans I guess are eating though so mission accomplished.
