No way cole wanna run the fade with this guy
nah ion think this nigga need a blicky to handle you cole i aint gon lie potna
the issue is with all that musicality, his music post damn doesn't have a lot of replayable value so i doubt its worth much. once he went the "i'm a hypocrite so don't expect much from me" route with his music, there's not much to enjoy compared to a drake. cole still has the message and relatability factor so there's always something there
I feel like "replayability" plays too big of a role in the conversation of what makes good music
sometimes good art is something you only want to hear a few times in your life
I think Kendrick is living testament to that because I often hear that criticism of his music not having a lot of replayability yet he's still considered one of the modern greats.

I haven't played GKMC or NWTS in a while besides hold on we're going home last year, but does that make those albums not great? The whole replay value thing as the end all be all factor in evaluating the staying power of an album has always been silly because I'm a mood sequencer when it comes to music and there's so much music out there at every turn

Writing those bars down had to have been like Death Note, but for himself

Yes by critics and the industry but I’ve never cared about their opinion lol. Replayability is the biggest metric of how I judge music and Kendrick’s always fallen short outside of gkmc and damn. If I don’t feel like playing your album a year later, it’s not worth much to me.
That replayabilty is part of the “timelessness” part of determining if something is a classic which is why I laugh when he’s given so many classics. I judge Kanye, Drake, Future, and Cole by the same metric and they just happen to make more enjoyable music imo

Obviously the album age affects how much you judge the trend. Nwts is one of my most played albums this year. I still listen to songs from gkmc and damn. I haven’t touched tpab in years outside of momma. Mr morale might as well not exist even tho it’s the most recent of them. It’s not that hard
