Like Jamaicans were sampling reggae in the 60’s and when they immigrated to NY they brought sampling with them

@shaleirose
I understand what you’re saying, but there’s also a reason why whenever any artist samples nowadays, we say they’re taking an influence from hip hop, or singing over a hip hop beat. We definitely made sampling what it is today and what it’s known as now
no spins in the trenches
@TroyAveStan can you confirm
Just listened but can't really get why this doing that good. It's not that catchy. Not very poppy either. Tiktok really can make anything big
KTT needs to stop setting him up with the Drake comparison. I get that yall want quotes and threads to pop off but anyone who says Jack Harlow is anything close to Drake sounds stupid. We've been through this with Post Malone, Lil Baby, etc now everyone is trying it with Jack and its not going to work
To be fair, Post did have one of the biggest peaks of any new guy. Multiple hit singles across album cycles, hits off of loosies and album cuts, strong sales & streaming numbers, cultural relevance, etc etc. The last few years have not been very strong, but 15-19 he was one of the artists closest to catching up to Drake

People just loved the hook / the way he flipped the sample
To be fair this song was highly anticipated because of the sample
Why are yall comparing Jack to Drake
This just one of the bad feedback its getting
This song really came and went on Tiktok before it even dropped the music landscape is crazy nowadays
Yall really set people up to fail when yall try to compare them to drake
Its like how they ask if every new nba player is the next jordan

Post malone had to work himself to death and exploit every musical genre known to man just to catch a whiff of Drake’s s***
Drake is simply the GOAT commercial monster

Damn this song might drop off within a week or 2

Lol this is a weird complaint. Post’s hits were basically just Hip Hop or Pop songs and they’re kinda indistinguishable, none of them really sound like huge genre departures. He has done like rock songs/covers, but his hits have always been Hip Hop or Pop.
Hip Hop: Congratulations (Diamond), Rockstar (Diamond), White Iverson (8x platinum), Wow (5x platinum), Goodbyes (3x platinum)
Pop: Sunflower (Diamond), Psycho (7x platinum), I Fall Apart (7x platinum), Better Now (6x platinum), Circles (4x platinum)
And it’s not like Drake makes strictly Rap music either, some of his biggest hits have been pop songs

That’s actually a compliment I just worded it like its shade
