i think the tape is pretty good but i think It Can’t Be is dumb. like we gonna act that whiteness aint part of the reason of your success?
Surprised to see more of you picking up how this is one of those albums everyone calls great/a major improvement but stops listening to after a week or two.
I also agree with that @iHype said. He should have just called this a mixtape because it feels, sounds and functions as one.
everything about the music itself and the rollout surrounding feels like it should have been regarded as a mixtape
This album is way too substantial for that kinda stuff
This is clearly an intimate listen. No bumps just words
i get why they didn’t do it but i feel like it would have benefited the album to put drama on there tbh
so far this sounds like a mixtape which is not bad at all. lotta rappers have better mixtapes than albums tbh. digging these 2000s beats
I didn't mean the song was necessarily amazing or deep or anything, it was just a topic I've never heard discussed in a rap song before.
ok thats fair
One of the most insane tweets I’ve ever read
not trying to be offensive but when you realize most of the people making weirdly aggressive tweets are people literally on the spectrum with no life it’s very easy to ignore them
this dude 1000% is inspired by drake more than anyone else. the subject matter is practically the same
i can’t see this album having much of a commercial shelf life at all really but it was good damage control after his last album
churchill downs really was a big fumble mane
take in the fun tracks jack made with other drake clones like sean, bryson and chris brown and instead they made a very middle of the road sortve below average drake bar fest song
All drake did was gas this nigga up and gave him no direction or notes on how to navigate as an up and coming poppin artist, he going out so sad
i think the tape is pretty good but i think It Can’t Be is dumb. like we gonna act that whiteness aint part of the reason of your success?
What did being white do for him in a post Youngboy/Keef rap game
If anything it makes it harder for people to wanna fw him
Tweets like this don’t even make sense? 😂 but people forcing s*** like this just cuz he a white rapper and we not supposed to like em
This album feels like talk therapy but Jack only has his own personality and life experience to interrogate which is as relatable as it is generic. At least that's how it feels when he's talking women or family or celebrity or privilege or any super broad topic.
I think GGG approaches cancel culture from a social, personal angle that I haven't really heard before. It Can't Be is kind of a reply to the opener, and taken together recognize his whiteness but also totally excuse it which is... contradictory but I think an almost accidental look at how celebs rationalize their position even without bringing race into it.
Cool that he even attempted such a stripped down, focused rap project at all. It definitely held my attention more than any of his other full lengths.
Agree with this but I always wonder how guys like Ye or Drake cracked this code of having people give a f*** about their personal songs when they kinda lived mundane and non relatable lives lol

Both can rap and sing and one can produce as well. Both can make actual pop music. They also switched it up repeatedly until everyone had to accept them. Tapped into different trends. Became the trend themselves at times.
There was resistance for both once upon a time

The music itself feels like a mixtape how?

Look how f***ed the game is when we're praising rappers... for rapping. This should be the bare minimum
Why is Jack bigger than Russ? Russ makes better produced, catchier music and can rap well. Label vs Indy?
