everyone kept saying mac was mid after every album lmao but keep rewriting the narrative

Never heard that I what I did he was he made frat rap which he did at first but that man transition from Watching Movies was well respected KTT definitely respected Mac after Watching Movies and Every Album after that

Watching Movies made me a fan fa sho. I was hating on him before then. He went crazy on that album tbh

Me too and then I had the pleasure of listening to Nikes On My Feet and was like well dam why did he drop Blue Slide Park but then his artistry went into a whole new level which I appreciated cause I haven’t seen a artist growth like that since

Nail Tech easily still the best song on here

  • May 6, 2022

Been playing this a ton today I’d Do Anything To Make You Smile & Movie Star my least favorites. Churchill Downs the best track idc Nail Tech second best and Young Harleezy 3rd. Dope project ain’t nothing crazy tho and those high notes he tried on one part of a song was terrible lol. Few corny bars but I laughed if anything 7/10 for me.

Dope closer I enjoyed that one also

  • May 6, 2022

    this pretty weak tbh

I dig the drake track and even the timberlake track, might hang onto one or two others after another listen.

jack got talent, just still got a ton of progress to make. feel like none of his music is personal enough to try the drake angle

  • May 6, 2022

    this p solid

i don’t get the hate or mid comments tbh

    gon bump

I always think of this Donald Glover quote from when Mac Miller died

"“I’m a very sensitive person… but this Mac Miller s*** got me f***ed up,” Gambino said. “He was so nice. He was the sweetest guy, he was so nice. And we were both internet music kids, and a lot of critics were like, ‘This corny-ass white dude, this corny-ass black dude,’ and we used to talk. And this kid, he just loved music.”"

Was active heavy on hip-hop forums and community back then.
It took years and several projects before Mac Miller was fully accepted and considered a good artist by people outside of his core fanbase.

Tory does a MUCH better Drake cosplay.

In part because he does a good cosplay of anyone he's like the mewtwo Pokemon lol

But tbh Tory is a better rapper than Jack, and kind of nails the secret sauce that makes Drake, 'Drake' in my opinion. The effortless use of melodies, and being able to get vulnerable and honest even on slaps.

Like even with people clowning Tory, there's very little doubt that he's one of the few artists who can successfully rap well, use melody, and full fledge sing. He's one of them ones in that regard.

Like, It was obvious Jack was going for the more big, catchy, bubble gum cookie cutter rap records on this thing and Drake's brilliance is that he can do that, while still being melodic, while still giving bars. It's not in Jack's wheelhouse.

    I like Jack.

The first album for me was much better.

And to be fair, when you hear Jack rap on State Fair, or like on Baxter avenue from the debut album, you can honestly hear WHY the comparison exists. He nails part of Drake IMO. The delivery, certain cadences, rhyme structure, are all obviously Drake. The actual lyrics though, not so much.

He's like Drake without the melodies, hooks, or depth.

Haha yeah it tells you something.

That they all see that he could be next up and want to be a part of it.

Not necessarily that they think he's just a super dope mc.
