Damn some of y'all are way madder than I supposedly am haha.
I'm really not that pressed about it. As someone who's had to claw my way up through life, it does bother me slightly that some people get to start out on easy mode and others don't. But it's all good, clout isn't everything and there's always another way to find happiness.
I can't reply to all these posts but I'll try to get around to at least a few of them at some point.
You’re trolling anyway
Realistically him “coming from money” (regular middle class household) made music videos and recording in his teens more accessible & that’s it.
Money and family background alone are just part of the equation, that's true. Talent and work ethic still play into it. But there's a lot of kids from bad backgrounds who have the talent and work ethic, without the money and family background.
But if this is where the culture is at, it's all good. I'm just seeing what people think. Maybe upper class white kids do need a voice in rap. At the end of the day, there's more things to focus energy on.
You focued on this by bringing up that his parents may have had money.
That's not the culture of hip hop, but the state of society as a whole. Every career field that you go into there is going to be someone who is better or just as good as another person who just didn't get the opportunity. It's actually really common in sports
I mean what's poppin is actually a bop, if he has some skill to back himself up who cares? Why the hate?

Yeah I know how the world works lmao, I think things should change somehow for kids trying to get out the bottom (in general, race is part of it but it's not the only factor).
But also I know that's not an easy thing to resolve, and it doesn't negate 100% of the work from people who started on easy mode. They still have their own difficulties.
I looking to have a more nuanced discussion about all of this, but people in this thread are acting like I'm foaming at the mouth, which I find really funny

Clearly you don't know if you are trying to discredit someone for having a support system lol

Nah man, I've said multiple times that he still deserves some credit. My views are about having empathy for kids who don't come from supportive households and loving parents, not about tearing Jack down. Hip-Hop is competitive, and his success does come at the expense of other kids.
Jack Harlow got a Ye collab b4 his label mate Lil Uzi. he gotta feel some type of way

You said he wasn't self made because he had loving parents lmao grow up
yall missing the point, its not that a sign company has connections in the music industry, it's that he came from business owners and more than likely was wealthy enough to support his music career
dont care for the guy, js
A white man is wealthy?
Color me f***ing shocked
It’s f***ing hilarious that this nigga expected us to be shocked that a white boy from the burbs has a well off family
