Ok, now he's spitting @Brave
This is rich coming from James Blake lol, you can sum up his discography pretty well in the length of a tiktok. Your whole discography sounds like a 15 second clip repeating so what’s the issue
charles hamilton stan the irony of saying someone else’s music can be summed up in 15 second clips due to said repetition
goddamn !!!
At least he didn't say "slowed and reverbed."
Yeah at least he's sophisticated enough to call it "soundscape"
ik doing it for the money shouldn’t be the sole motivation but these established artist aren’t gonna try if they don’t reap the benefits of the industry from making true art
we don’t see how these numbers get broken down on paper individually just the sales
Did this man not just release a slowed down version of his 2023 album
Those aren’t just slowed down. They are just a result of his partnership with Endel, he modified some songs for certain moods hence they are part of the soundscape series. They even have additional prod on songs lol.
Plus he’s already made an album with them to help in sleeping called Wind Down.
Yeah at least he's sophisticated enough to call it "soundscape"
Do you know what endel focus version of songs are?
first it was "oldheads" saying the music is not where it needs to be rn, and it was "yall out of touch"
then it was younger people saying the music is not where it needs to be rn, and it was "yall out of touch"
then it was media publications and the radios saying the music is not where it needs to be rn, and it was "yall out of touch"
then it was the actual artists saying the music is not where it needs to be rn, and it was "yall washed up and out of touch"
Now it's actual popping artists that have lasted this long because of being in touch, saying and/or AGREEING that the music is not where it needs to be rn, what's the excuse now?

Idk how people can deny it anymore. The state of music is in absolute shambles right now- not even talking about just hip hop. So much soulless music coming out and it just seems like executives are trying to promote the most mundane s*** to see how consumers react. You're also not going to get good faith arguments from those users both of them are braindead as s***

I mean why wouldn't money be a motivation though... they have no reason to volunteer their time and energy to s*** that's not going to get appreciated.

James is talking more about how music has lost its value to the consumer due to streaming and TikTok
James is talking more about how music has lost its value to the consumer due to streaming and TikTok
which in turn has effects on the what?
people getting what they paying for
James is talking more about how music has lost its value to the consumer due to streaming and TikTok
Which leads into how AI artists and songs could easily take over the industry because the mainstream consumer doesn’t care for the art form anymore. Not saying music is made to be consumed but if the mainstream audience doesn’t really care, then why would the mainstream artist care to make something worthwhile

Not really. Mk.gee’s new album is more than enough proof to me that music (as an art form) is in a good place. I’m saying that mainstream audiences and artists don’t care anymore but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is nothing impactful or inspiring in music right now. There may be a decline but it’s not over.
I don’t know how exactly to get mainstream audiences or artists to care but it starts with putting an emphasis on the value of music that streaming and TikTok took away. The increase in vinyl sales and cult followings that develop on bandcamp are some things that can help with mainstream artists but idk about mainstream audiences

It would be great to see mainstream audiences adopt mk.gee but the music on its own has value to you and I and that’s more than enough. That’s (part of) the point I’m trying to make.
The other point is that if you want mainstream audiences to adopt mk.gee and other great artists, they have to learn the value of music. I remember a time where people were eagerly awaiting the next schoolboy q album and now I’ve seen people quick to dismiss his latest album. The problem isn’t that there isn’t good music. The problem is that we are spoiled by streaming and TikTok and when artists see this, they will try their best to appease these spoiled audiences. This leads mainstream artists to be more like content creators and influencers rather than musicians
