now that Avatar is under Disney I wonder if people will be able to take off their bias towards every non MCU or non IP blockbusters & realize it's a blockbuster done right.

not just the MCU, people are biased towards anything that’s not based on a popular IP. Look at the way Valerian or Alita were criticized before they dropped.

It’s makes sense why Lionsgate (?) tried to bury John Wick. I think that’s the last non IP franchise that happened naturally and didn’t rely on a built in fan base. The studio had no faith in it tho.

• James Cameron is the sequel god, he has the art of the sequel down to a science, made two of the greatest sequels of all time
• has a lot to prove after some of the faults of the first Avatar
• laid the foundation for a larger world in Avatar
• Avatar 2 won’t be constrained by needing to set up the world
• the technology and effects will be even more groundbreaking this time around

This might end up being one of the greatest sequels in blockbuster history tbh
