You guys getting all political about it. People stormed the White House put it in imax
Sounds terrible. Fincher was the reason The Social Network was good.
Cmon now. We’ve seen what happens when Fincher doesn’t get a good script

Trial of the Chicago Seven fan?

I liked it yeah. But back to the topic, a great director can’t make a bad script good. It’s impossible. It takes both a great script and great execution from the director. Aaron Sorkin wrote a great script.
If some funny writers put their head together, people storming the capitol could be a funny movie

Aaron Sorkin directing his own dialogue is over brother. Nobody wants to see that

What does any of that have to do with what you said regarding social network? You staying on subject on which I quoted you about or…
@twitch which you think will be better? This or Aronofsky’s Elon Musk biopic? I got both threads

Lmaooo who knows fam. I’m really a fan of Sorkins pen but I’m hoping this s*** isn’t mad preachy. I think it’s way too early to do a film like this.

No one’s attached yet and he’s still writing. This probably doesn’t come out till 2026
Facebook launched in 2004 but didn’t open to the public till 2006. Social Network released in 2010
Let him cook

A failed coup d'etat tbh

Facts
If this was a premise for a fiction movie people would be all in. The fact it happened irl no one can use the “this would never happen” critique
Plus I’m sure Sorkin changes details to make it more entertaining like he always does

Yeah but we know politics is a wayyyy touchier subject than a social media site getting invented. That’s why I think time helps these kinds of movies separate from current biases.
Watching the movie and finally get to the part where Donald Trump says "Stand back and stand by"

I mean we kinda did just get that with Civil War. But knowing Sorkin I know he definitely doesn’t have the same agenda here.
I just don’t want it to be preachy. I hate when a movie tries to tell me “this is who you need to like, this is who you need to align with, this is how you need to feel”

I have a different point of view on those kind of movies. A lot of movies are the voice of the director and they’re expressing their opinion
I don’t feel like I’m being told who to side with I’m just hearing out one person’s side
I do understand why some dislike it but I’ve never been a political person so I don’t mind. It’s not gonna sway me one way or the other. I didn’t even know it was only republicans who rushed the White House or why they did it. I just laughed at the memes

Facts I’m not political at all either, but see that’s even more why I don’t care for movies preaching 1 side as right other side wrong.
Showing POV can be done and I trust Sorkin, but it is a tight rope he’s walking. As long as there’s some nuance to it and it’s not just “Hey look at these bad magas storming the capital!!! Ewww!!!”

True, we’ll see how this turns out. A lot of factors beyond the script that can make or break it. Movie might not even happen for all we know if Sorkin changes his mind
