    Random Facts

    • AWT released ~10 years after Exhibit A
    • Considered his debut album, but technically it's his second. The Awakening released on 'Boss and Family Records in 2000, while he still went under the name Je'ri Allah, could be considered his real debut album.
    • Jay elect makes up 53% of the album while Hov makes up 35%

    • Nominated for Grammy Best Rap Album Of The Year. Jay said if he won, he would throw the award in the ocean
    • Debuted at number 12 on billboard with the first week sales of 31k
    • The actual recording and completion of album happened in "40 days and 40 nights" starting from December 26 and finished on Feburary 6 and released in less than 40 days later on March 13

    • On the 2nd verse of The Blinding, he addressed his anxiety over dropping music and why it has taken so long for an album
    • Track 5, Shiny Suit Theory is a Jay and Hov collab from 2010, that is actually the 2nd half of a 7 minute track called Dinner At Tiffany's. Dinner At Tiffany's is an unreleased song off Jay's original debut album, Act II: The Patents of Nobility
    • APIDTA was recorded on the day Kobe Died. Jay and Hov were crying when making it
    • There's an unreleased video of APIDTA
    • Jay Produced 6/10 of the 10 tracks
    • Teased the instrumentals for Universal Solider, Overwhelming Event, Ghost of Soulja Slim, and Neverending Story in 2018
    • There's a version of Flux Capacitor where Travis does the hook
    • The beat for Flux Capacitor was uploaded on his YouTube channel back in 2017, with the outro on the released version done by James Blake
    • In his discord, he released an early track from AWT called Ruff sketches.
    • Speculated that the album was originally a collab album turned into solo album, from line off ruff sketches. "For this project, I dropped the Electronica, and we merged both the J's and put a "C" after the "Y" so that the "Z" stands for CZARS" Where the album would be titled under JAY-CZARS
    • There was a scrapped Mach-Hommy verse on Neverending story. Verse had positive receipton from everyone in the room, Beyonce, Jay, Hov, Guru, Alchemist. Speculated to be scrapped due to issues between Mach and Alchemist?.
    • Cover art is a picture of Beyoncé's pool taken by her, which is reminiscent of a wav file.
    • The beat for Neverending story was made 3-4 years prior to AWT release when Alchemist took a trip to Argentina where he found the sample. Al sent the beat to Jay and was told to not play it for anyone else
    • There was a planned Tidal listening party for the album, but was canceled due to COVID, resulting in a IG and Youtube livestream of the album, with appearances from Jay, Hov, Big Sean, Lawrence "Law" Parker, Guru, and more

    • Received backlash for some of the lyrics on the album for being Antisemitic. Rosenberg called out his usage of the "synagogue of satan" line on Ghost of Soulja Slim

    Jay responded with

"We sat down in an interview before and talked about my stance in these matters and it’s there for anyone to go pull up. we’re you offended then? then you quoted better in tune w the infinite which was released in 2014 so what #AWrittenTestimony made you go back and listen to BITWTI and you were retro offended? if you have a problem w the term Synagouge of Satan, don’t take it up w me, take it up w the writers of the New Testament. Don’t play w me Peter, i ain’t the one. and you know this. i come in peace and i go in peace. let’s keep it that way....clout chasing us at an all time high. and for the record. I stand on every single word i said on this album. #AWrittenTestimony#ISaidWhatISaid and btw, @Rosenbergradio if you REALLY wanna get into it, we are willing to hold a discussion in a PUBLIC FORUM on The Synagogue of Satan and it’s meaning with any Scholars of Theology you would like to bring. until then. STFU"

Also received backlash for his line on Fruits of The Spirit "Satan struck Palestine with yet another mortar" and the inclusion of Louis Farrakhan through the album

  • Listened to this once and never listened to it again

Jay Elec the ultimate finesse artist though. Respect.

  • This was a great album, was kind of underwhelming, now I know why.

Some of the information ℹ️ in OP I knew about, but I don’t know about a Mach Hommy verse.

    Or the other Travis hook.

This was a short and sweet album though.

WHO declared a pandemic and bro dropped this album

  • my first listen was on shrooms

  • AWT has grown on me so much since its release. Was super high on him during his mixtape/exhibit c days and I think the hiatus soured me a bit on the day the album finally dropped

Hope for more music from him eventually

  • Now I’m way out in the Dagobah. Classic album

  • I just listened to this album yesterday lol.

  • Extremely well made thread @op

wish I & most people that fell in love with jay through exhibit C felt the same about this glorified NOI ad placement the way yall niggas did.

A.P.I.D.T.A. one of the best songs of the decade tho. Salute.

Wonder how much Mach-Hommy contributed to the project. When it dropped people were saying Jay-Z was sounding like Mach on some songs like Universal Soldier and supposedly he had a verse that didn't make it. (and might have subbed Jay Electronica on Stellar Ray Theory?)

  • Haven't played the project in a while but A.P.I.D.T.A.

Now I understand why you used to cry sometimes we ride down Claiborne
    You just missed
    You just missed yo mama
Now I just miss my mamas

  • this dropped on a first day of covid lockdown lol f***ing illuminatis. whats up with new album man?

  • Will be spinning today

  • It’s hard to imagine that this guy drew this whole thing out for a decade and then delivered a masterpiece recorded in 40 days, with great Hov verses too.

    This album refuses to age.

shiny suit theory was already almost 10 years old at that point
