Maturing is realizing Jay Elect is a moron now…it pains me to say it. I think he has potential to be thought provoking and creative especially when he came onto the scene. But he’s been rehashing Quranic verses (which lol is not impressive, because the Quran is a very melodic book of poetry with a whole art form of recitation for that very reason) and proclaiming savior complex, and pledging allegiance to the NOI on almost every feature post AWT.

I wish he did more truly introspective stuff like in his early days. That was his greatest skill imo.

APIDTA and the song in the AI MJ video that is ten years old (Better In Tune) are both good examples of where he’s at his best.

Like I said earlier Jay's features nowadays =/= his own music. Jay literally reuses verses lol he phones it in. I wouldn't take that as an indictment to his own craft

I get that but tho I didn’t think his verse was bad it paled in comparison to the energy on Kendrick’s verse and was pretty forgettable, mainly due to the attention being on the context of Dot’s verse.

I agree that he is recycling verses and themes for guest verses but that’s not exactly a vote of confidence when you don’t release anything other than guest verses.

But I’ll always listen to Jay Elect and tune in if he actually drops something. I think in his mind he’s gearing up for new music, but you never know with him. But the anticipation I used to have is nowhere near his heyday.
