    that ankle monitoring is false

a simple research will do it for you but im too lazy but here is the tweet by said owner of the company jay z supposedly invested in

    https://twitter.com/phaedrael/status/1129004264343232512

people want to find someone to hate because hating the white man got boring. I get it...

btw im not white so don't call me a c\*\*\*

“She responded to critics on Twitter who have accused her and Jigga of profiting from GPS monitoring by making clear that her company does not make ankle monitoring devices, the report states.

She failed to mention, however, that her company advocates for releasing non-violent petty criminals so Promise can profit by monitoring them for government agencies.

Essentially, the government can pay Promise to “monitor compliance with court orders and better keep tabs on people via the app and, if needed, GPS monitoring devices.””

"Promise sells smartphone apps to government agencies that they could use in replacement of ankle monitoring devices to track parolees who are discharged from jail under the First Step Act. The report described it an "incarceration alternative" that ensures parolees appear in court or take a urine d*** test.

Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, co-founder of the company, recently replied to someone on Twitter who accused the company of producing ankle monitoring bracelets and profiting from it. She claimed that they "do not make, provide or sell electronic monitoring."

But she did state that the government is paying their company to track parolees who wear ankle monitoring devices and provide progress reports. This, she says, is a better alternative than having the county spend money to incarcerate parolees that can't afford bail."

what is the problem here? did you read it?

The problem is that they are selling electric monitoring, just in the form of apps instead of ankle monitors and are absolutely profiting off the prison industrial complex

  • Mar 20, 2022

Good thread, but also if op disappears we know why

  • Mar 20, 2022

S*** the apps even connect to ankle monitors lmao

So disingenuous to be like "look they don't make ankle monitors" lol

    WRONG.

it's a for profit company you idiot. The government pays them to monitor criminals as a way for those to get a second chance instead of staying in jail for petty crimes. It is not ankle monitoring.

Now, if Jay Z was directly investing his money within CCA than yes we have a problem.

No. By the founders own admission it’s to save the county a few dollars. They could give a s*** about giving criminals a second chance

ok the system doesn't care but Jay Z is not directly trying to get a quick check he was investing in a company that was trying to pave a way for those who lost a way.

also OP said Jay Z invested in ankle monitoring. Which is false but you derailing into something else.

ACTUALLY JAY-Z DIDN'T INVEST IN ANKLE MONITORING SOFTWARE HE INVESTED IN ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF MONITORING THAT IS USED IN COMBINATION WITH ANKLE MONITORS

Doesn't exactly amount to a good counterargument to OPs broader point

it was an alternative so that those who faced petty crimes wouldn't have to stay in jail.

It's actually helping people but okay.

my stances stays the same tho. OP is not fact checking he's just taking what others have said and posting it as "factual" without actually doing research.

It doesn't help people, it helps counties save money. They wouldn't be in jail anymore bc of a prison reform law, not bc they made a smartphone monitoring app.

if someone can't afford bail what happens?

They stay in jail. Yes, keeping people out of jail saves county money but using that money to pay promise (the company Jay-Z supposedly invested in) is giving those a chance who couldn't afford bail to stay out of jail. Do you get it now?

crazy, how 3 hours ago I wasn't even entertaining this s*** until I realize that none of this s*** is true.

Luckily, I had time to do 2 minutes of research instead of spending my entire week writing up whatever he posted in op.

They would just be monitored with an ankle monitor instead of their smartphone apps, they're not bailing anybody out lol

Promise is a company that gives those an opportunity who can't afford bail. So, yes it's an alliterative to get people ( a lot of black men) out of jail.

But you can think its just a quick check scheme because Jay Z hates black people and only bows down to the white man.
