actually i think you can review and album in one day

Doesn’t mean the review is going to be good or fair.

People’s initial reactions to albums is a powerful. Some albums take time to grow on you, and for others it takes some time for the initial hype you had for the album thats clouding your judgement to wear off to allow you to be more sober and honest

    100%

artists put thousands of hours working on albums just for us to listen once and have a verdict

it takes much longer to consume and digest everything

It depends on the album and what a “day” means. Some albums are very layered and dense in their concepts. Also how many times are you listening to said album in a day?

    No it’s not lol

Imagine thinking a scrub like you knows more about music than Hov

  • Apr 26, 2020

Aren't reviews often just immediate impressions tho

You'd never be able to grasp it all in that timeframe of a day yeah but that's not the idea when reviewing an album most times...it leaves all of the possible impacts afterwards on the table, which is why some albums grow on fans sometimes months or years after the review period.

You can say this about all mediums of art esp like movies where hundreds of people spent thousands of hours putting it together

he's wrong. KTT can determine whether an album is classic or trash after it's been out for 5 minutes

I dont think this is entirely true.

Obviously many albums grow on you with every listen. But those are the albums that people like Jay, Kanye, Kendrick etc. release.

However I dont need more than one listen to say that Culture 2 or any Nav album are trash.

I guess you could say that the more time the artists takes on his songs the longer you should take you time to rate it. If Migos make a song in 10 minutes and the hook and lyrics are trash than I dont need a second listen to form my opinion.

  • Pitchfork was also HELLA biased/hipster contrarian(they still are but not as much) during their early years. Just read their original review to Kid A(it was overwhelmingly positive in the most disgusting way possible) and their takes on Mars Volta's/Tool's work.

They did PJ Harvey and Daft Punk dirty though I need a vinyl reissue of Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea badly.

Depends on the album but for the most part it's true, so much amazing s*** has grown on me that it feels like a disservice to give a concrete opinion until I digest it properly
