Then why are you using it like it holds any damn sense in explaining why cryptos should be deemed acceptable (because as you wanted to surely explain it cryptos hold no real value just like fiat money and only stand on the value we accept collectively to pin on it).

But you were obviously going to hide behind curtains the structure that allows fiat money to be a reliable vessel when cryptos don't rely on any structure that could really guarantee its value. Fiat money isn't fiat because of a collective acceptation of its imaginary value but rather an aggregation of factors that lead us to it.

So when that guy was telling you that Bitcoin is indeed an empty money as it stands don't throw at him the word "fiat" like the two situations are indeed comparable
