Definitely hasn’t aged well but I think the lore behind this track w/ Jay flying to Italy to beg Andrea Bocelli to clear it but being dubbed built the prestige

The full WTT doc needed drop like yesterday

Jay flying to Italy to beg Andrea Bocelli to clear

Bro is there a source on this? I love it when artists go above & beyond for the art.

This is like when Kanye wrote a letter to the artist who was sampled in Champion, so he would allow Kanye to use the sample

Bruh really made Dark Fantasy, GOOD Fridays, and WTT in like a year. Did the compilation album with a film and dropped Yeezus in 2013

Songs like That’s My B****, Dark Fantasy, Primetime, Chain Heavy, had elements of traditional hip hop with the use of samples and heavy drum breaks

He started incorporating more abstract elements in his production after 808s (Mercy breakdown, Yeezus sound selection, distorted bass/808s, Mike Dean guitars/synths)

And he really stepped into his trap bag. Paris, Illest MF Alive, HAM, Mercy all went crazy

Vocal chants and orchestral instrumentation always added a nice touch to the sound. Began to notice those details during this time

Bruh was going crazy with the art and design too.

    • Riccardo Tisci did the WTT cover

    • George Condo did MBDTF

    • GOOD Friday covers/font was poppin at the time lol

    • Had the Rosewood era swag. Yeezus swag was on some dystopian/rockstar s***

    • Inspired a whole generation with Yeezus era. The tour, projections on buildings promoting New Slaves, Yeezus logo/merch

    • Started namedropping all the fashion s*** niggas hopped on years later. Margiela, Givenchy, Balmain

    • Dropped the Yeezy 2’s in 2012. Red Octobers in 2013

Reminds me of my younger days scrolling on Tumblr lol

Quite possibly my favorite time in his career

I miss it so much. This is why I have such a high standard when it comes to albums, music direction and overall rollouts. Nothing will ever top the level of creativity and we were spoiled so hard back then being able to witness all of it.
