Where does it rank in Hov’s discog?
I love this album so much, from the cover art (top 10 cover art OAT?) to the production, concept, lyrics and atmosphere. This is JAY-Z at legend status crafting a high-budget, luxury album for a Hollywood gangster movie starring Denzel Washington at the peak of his powers. It’s the perfect synthesis and could only have been done by Hov.
Thanks to @Goo
you knew it was gonna be a classic soon as that Idris intro started. top 3 hov album for me
Probably ranks in the middle of HOV discog for me not a classic but still a very good album
Great album and also thankful for letting me find out this amazing song (sampled on Party Life)

Party Life is what black excellence sounds like compressed into one song. One of the best sample uses. Evokes the atmosphere from the cover also. Just pure opulence
I take back my comment from the Vol. 1 thread, i no longer wish for OP to be banned

It’s definitely up there with RD, TB, TBA

It’s all opinions my man. I love Hov.
I love that s***
That song placement is weird to me, I don't think it fits the album's vibe
Maybe I would've liked it better if it wasn't on the album

I admit the placement is kind of strange! It does feel like it just hits out of nowhere. I get you.
welcome to the party life
Goat sample usage
And how Hov rides the beat out towards the end, you know he felt that s***.
his first and only classic
Hello Brooklyn the only skip for me
That's it.
Blue Magic and I Know dont really fir the overall vibe but are tied thematically and they just sound so good I don't even trip.
Success is top 20 Jay-Z.
