I love Jay but people are really overrating this moment lmao and I know it’s because we really don’t hear from Jay much these days and people love controversy but there was nothing he said here 4real that was really that lethal for anyone involved. Maybe had he said it a year ago but Drake is coming off a record breaking release, miraculously surviving the greatest smear campaign and diss record in music history, Kanye just performed on top of a globe in front of 100k people, Dame is lowest hanging fruit, I mean I don’t know. I doubt we’re going to remember or care much of what was said here a week from now and more and more I’m starting to get the feeling that NLU might have actually killed beef forever lmao no one is ever going to top that for one and two, as lethal and potent as it was, the audience is so fragmented and siloed that it’s more clear than ever that all these people, despite their huge egos, and the illusion of competition can actually co-exist at the exact same time without impeding upon each others success so what actually is even the point of beefing at all lol
In a way, I agree.
I do think it was right for Jay to show niggas he's still got it and confront his detractors head on.
But I also see Budden's POV about how Jay sorta lost his cool factor and mystique. I honestly would've preferred for Jay to confront them on a feature track or a radio freestyle if I'm being honest.
Also, niggas hyping this up as a career ending freestyle or saying that it "overshadowed" Drake's 3 albums is just super copium on steroids lol. Iceman alone is getting played outside and in public more than Fall Off, Don't Be Dumb, Bully, and Casino combined. Let's be fr fr.
