When u mixing do it on the place folks most likely to listen to music (e.g. use s***ty earbuds)

When u do it so long with your own voice that you’ve created a custom patch it makes signal flow so much faster and efficient

Personally, I use logic as my DAW of choice. I like to use the default compressor, it’s like blue and grey.

Threshold: -30 to -35
Ratio (depending on artist): 2.8:1 to 3.6:1
Makeup: don’t touch, or 5db
Knee: make that b**** deep, turn it all the way to the right
Attack: I like a short attack. Set it to 0
Release: kinda just keep it in the 150 - 200 range

Usually I’ll have just a compressor on my main vocal chain and then bus all my other s***

Lot of local artists i find really hyperfixate on “sounding professional” meanwhile some of the biggest artists now recorded some of their best material without a pop filter.
