Phife Dawg was a Monster!
Yeah I did think of Phife in that too. Obviously tribe music stood the test of time in a crazy way but I remember playing tribe for people years ago and them telling me the rhymes were too simple. I even think Tip was nice. But if we being real as nice as they both were, CL on another level as a lyricist. And he gets none of those props because his style is kind of a relic from a weird middle period in rap. But I feel like those who truly do the knowledge can appreciate it. And doing the knowledge is a 24/7/365 thing that never ends
No lie I was actually gonna list Kane & Slick Rick with the other names but I got distracted by something
You're just a butter knife, I'm a machete
That's made by Ginsu, wait until when you
Try to front, so I can chop into
Your body, just because you tried to be basin'
Friday the 13th, I'ma play Jason
I'm going down, basement
Friday The 13th, guess who's playin' Jason?
Tuck yourself in, you better hold on to your teddy
It's Nightmare On Elm Street and guess who's playin' Freddy?

Tip was always nice plus he makes beats, but I feel like people always overlook the 5 Foot Assassin!!!

https://twitter.com/xxl/status/2026403416394637706hoping it’s not the draft, but could be. im hoping at least 3 nights of shows
I'm expecting a full reasonable doubt 30th anniversary with extra songs (maybe demos idk, something)
you’ll get Reasonable Doubt ACAPELLA and be happy
👀

I would not be opposed to some mild (semi-pointless) backlash if he does anniversary shows for himself even though he didn't publicly acknowledge hip hop's 50th anniversary
(I say mild backlash because obviously it doesn't even matter & some twitter users who haven't even heard Reasonable Doubt before are probably already cooking up these tweets as engagement bait
)
Can we get OG In My Lifetime on streaming? I know it wasn’t on RD but damn I love that song
This is the greatest rap song of all time I've thought about it, I got Eminem - Stan at #2. Is this a bad assessment?
I found a still of the actual commerical from tumblr (can't embed tumblr but you can see it, and a similar car s***)
https://65.media.tumblr.com/3535e0ede9f3c7fc4e7339d606bdc682/tumblr_nyjo1bKZIr1rrvheyo1_250.png
Which then proceeds to their marketing concepts and style for the album later based off the art template of the commercial

Reasonable Doubt also did not have massive distribution in its first year, it was limited to select stores and in small quantities - this they campaigned for themselves to have it pushed to more stores, just like how Jay Z was denied from multiple labels to get signed originally so they pushed themselves with RD
They were completely indie in the year prior and first year of RD with a small distro deal that came "towards the end" near release
Another fun early days fact - OG RD fully indie n early RD even had a diff CD rom cover of a .22 for its like first two months (you can see an old head posting a video of it in these comments on Facebook, and mention of it on Twitter) but was changed for more potential positive marketing reasons and to get picked up in more stores

But yeah, here's a dude talking about seeing the commercial
https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/jay-zs-original-1st-lp-reasonable-doubt-with-the-cd-artwork-as-a-hologram-of-a-gun.684417/
It previewed Dead Pres 1 in it's og airing (which of course didn't make it to the actual release), then later dubbed ain't no nigga over it - but anyways - the og tagline from the commercial was "the trial begins" which was kinda like an early subtitle for reasonable doubt that then later got dropped
I can't find the full commerical still tho outside of the final still above and mentions about it, but it's just Jay Z driving around in his car with various shots inside and outside with him on the phone and there's a voiceover from someone else talking bout Jay Z bout to defend himself in a trial for his life, but he knows he'll win beyond a "reasonable of doubt"
I didn’t know you were so tapped in with the ROC?!?!
