Oct 25, 2019Seems to be a lot of negativity out there but after watching the Zane Lowe interview and playing the album over a couple times I think this album is actually really good.
The instrumentation is really cohesive and of course expected for a Kanye project. But I think exploring these topics is something really novel and done in a cool way.
Some of the lyrics are a bit jarring but overall I love the tone and message of the album. I think it’s very wholesome

The instrumentation sounds balanced, and supporting vocals sound well mixed. It sounds like Kanye’s lofi vox were a sound design choice because other vocals sound much cleaner. There are some parts that do clip on the album but overall I don’t have an issue with the mixing.

The clipping on some songs (mainly use this gospel?) is an issue. But I'm starting to believe the mixing was a creative choice too. I really hope it grows on me. I'm more into super crisp mixing. But some songs have started growing for me.
