Not really. It specifically applies to rap, and maybe pop, but one could argue acoustic and A capella singing is still pretty highly regarded when you’re an amazing vocalist. No one wants to see a rapper get on stage with no beat and rippity rap some s***, the beat is 50% the song. And, with most instrument focused genres, the “producers” don’t really do s*** in comparison to rap and the more you expand out from mainstream genres like rap, pop and rock, to s*** like electronic, all those niggas produce their own s***. Rap is the one genre where the nigga producing your music actually deserves just as much spotlight
