I have a vendetta against digipaks after my copy of graduation was absolutely destroyed cause I accidentally slept with it on my bed and I guess it went under me and got sweaty and it got f***ed up
Digipaks are flimsy and feel cheap. Jewel cases are timeless
And if anything happens they’re easy to fix
The worst CD packages however for albums has to be cardboard slips
No extra art, no booklet, no nothing
Just the cover and CD. Save that s*** for like singles
i always liked the digipak more but i notice they can have more wear and tear
yeah the jewel case is more convenient
Apparently modern jewel cases are much flimsier than older ones. People on audiophile forums have compared the weight of old and new jewel cases and the new ones are up to 50% lighter. They're made with less plastic, which means weaker hinges and a greater chance of cracking and scratching. If your parents or grandparents are throwing out their old CDs, it's a good idea to save some of the jewel cases to use as spares.
jewel case protects the art and is easy to replace, it is cool though when someone goes all out on the design of the digipak
jewel cases all day, f*** digipaks
i mean, they are cool as collector’s items but they are so cheap and fragile and the fact that it’s pretty much the default for a lot of physical CD releases contributes to why the notion of buying an artist’s CD is a joke in this day and age
Literally f*** digipaks. They always fold over itself and crease like a paperback book. And everyone is always like 'but the artwork on them' like there's not the same artwork under the CD holder part of the jewel case.
I bought 2 digipaks last year and like 10 CDs. Both digipaks are in way worse condition already. And don't get me started on the Vultures type digipacks that's just a f***ing slit.
