Why do people want Drake to speak on social issues so bad lol?
Especially in this age, there are better people to speak on it than rappers and better platforms for it than music. I rather people be like J Cole and show up at protests or Jay-Z who every now and then we find out is supporting cool things behind the scenes than make complex issues rhyme so internet nerds can call someone top 5.
Sure he did some amazing things and s*** with some records but nah he not up there like that. He can’t outdo a DMX or a Nas or a Jay.
I still consider Wayne the goat but an unbiased person looking in would prob put Drake #1. Other people in that batch would be Jay. I think Eminem, Nas, and 3k have kinda dropped out of consideration. Who else would be up there, Biggie and Pac?
Dropped out of consideration?
Have you heard Nas over the last 3 years?
His last 3 albums have been critically acclaimed.
I haven't heard an argument for Drake being the GOAT that doesn't bring up sales records and popularity, those are achievements for sure but I don't think they factor into the GOAT convo
There’s also the fact that he has a really really good pen, which people will discredit cause of subject matter and pop appeal. I don’t think he’s in the top spot, but people shouldn’t laugh when he gets put in a top 5. That’s corny at this point. I think he’s totally earned it.
For me Nas drops out the running due to his worse ratio of great to mid albums. Jay, Drake, and Wayne all put out mid albums (especially Wayne) but they were often saved by some really big singles.
Who cares. The man dropped classics. That’s all that matters who gives a f*** about a nice discography sure it’s a cool to have it but he dropped the greatest rap album of all time and then he dropped albums that didn’t compare but it doesn’t matter because those albums contain songs that are just classics.
I think Drake, Jay, and Wayne are in the top 5 no matter what. Kendrick, Nas, and Eminem are who I think can be debated.

No Pac?
Edit: ok, this makes some sense if you’re just focusing on pure wordplay and s***. I personally consider other factors tho.

Sorry fam. He’s a legend but to no fault of his own, his reign didn’t get a chance to stack up to the others as far as longevity.
nothing against yt ppl
but many of them are seem bit insecure when it comes to this s*** , like they have to go with certain choices because they are scared of getting their hood pass revoked
the biggest drake haters ive seen online are to 95% yt dudes or female pop fans. rarely have that issue with black people, especially on a global scale
so of course the one yt dude here feels like you cant be the top rapper unless every second track of you reminds the audience of how bad things truly are for us
same bullshit we saw for years at the oscars were black featured movies would only get rewarded when they managed to sell us on trauma, black struggle or painful experiences
f*** that s***
I just feel like y’all tryna convince yourselves at this point

Outside of better sales numbers drake is just a rich mans kid cudi
Cudi could never rap like Drake
Drake really put him on stage once and he been d***riding ever since

Depends on you values, it’s all subjective
Based on my values he’s around 5 or 6
of course the only white dude in the conversation has the most racist and cliche opinion about hip hop culture and meaning of being the goat in this genre. these idiots think that if they will speak about social injustice or things like that everywhere it'll make black people like them. but they only show how racist they are
Drake could stick within his subject matter and be in contention. People really underestimate how vast music without social issues can be. I’m just not entirely satisfied with what he does with the subject matter
Makes me happy, Makes me smile. Dem d***riders got sooo mad. lmfao.

Imagine laying on your death bed, going over your top 5 rappers in your head one last time, just to see Jim Jones’ face in your mind’s eye, and he starts cackling and hooing at your pathetic existence, then him and Drake start singing kiki do u love me and then u die
I swear anyone who didn’t learn from chappelles show that best rapper arguments are for the birds is a lost cause
