I see where he’s coming from, Travis consistently chooses the wrong songs to perform at those types of events

Why are you singing Stop Trying to Be God, My Eyes, and I Know ? with an autotune-less microphone? It doesn’t sound good!! It’s awkward!!

He’s one of the only rappers in his lane that will go on stage and actually rap the full verse to his song and exercise decent breath control while doing so. When he’s performing his rap songs it has the energy of a 90s/2000s hardcore rap performance

The worst part of the performance was Travis trying to sing a artsy slow jam knowing he sounds like s*** when he sings live. The best part of the performance was when he dropped all that and began performing Fein, a song that isn’t as demanding vocally as My Eyes or I Know ?

They got the right idea but used it for the wrong portion of the performance

The grammies just isnt the place for that style

A key aspect of being a great performer is being a versatile performer and knowing the audience / setting you’re performing to.

FE!N is great when it’s being played in an arena full of 20,000 screaming fans, but it’s awkward and out of place when being performed at a tuxedo & dress event full of 30-and-up year olds

I think Travis performing Fein and slamming chairs after a bunch of old white motherfuckers were just playing the piano was a much needed and tasteful contrast to the vibe of the show. I think he should’ve kept it on Fein-type songs and less of the slow singing bullshit he was doing before it came on

He should’ve done some medley of Modern Jam, My Eyes, Telekinesis, and Til Further Notice. Even Circus Maximus would’ve been dope with a live band

I feel you but isn’t that what would make it fresh? The fact that it’s not the expected song to do? Hip hop artists whole thing when performing at these events is like getting the uptight white people to get loose and bring em into their world for a minute. I think it’s a tasteful change of pace

Also, this type of s*** has happened before and was received well. I just don’t think it was executed well this time, that’s all. Again, I’d rather him perform Fein and have it actually sound good over him try to perform My Eyes or I Know ?

i think the most hip hop thing you can do is be yourself regardless of if it seems like it’s the right place or time

If he wanted to perform anything he should’ve just did Lost Forever. Thats both artsy, slow, and actually sounds good when he performs it live
