The one with Larry June is fire but this man Larry June sounds exactly like Dom Kennedy
its not that bad, but def overproduced and awkward. sounds like a studio track that made sense when they played it on crazy equipment, but everywhere else its just very clunky
That's a great way to describe a LOT of rap songs these days
Sir, we understand you're upset, but...
killuminati and survival tactics cool i guess but yeah that nigga trash rap only two songs from him i like and that’s cos steez 50x the mc joey is
This is alright, good dusty rap but nothing special honestly
Definitely the best thing that dropped today tho
this album is good but it's miles away behind 1999, nothing reminiscing of it

I mean overall it’s probably a better listen all the way through but Mr Morale does have its own sound. You listen to that project and you know it’s Kendrick, I listen to 2000 and it could be like a dozen artists that dropped this. That’s the problem with Joey’s music.
Joey's first verse on Welcome Back was dope, I thought y'all were just gonna be talkin s***. But yeah the Capella Grey and CB features are the worst part of the album so far.
His writing is mediocre af. Mostly carried by beats and decent mic presence.
He dumbed down his lyrics a lil bit. Definitely had crazier wordplay and punchlines back when he was like 17-19
diddy, nas, and ab-soul speaking on your album. legends only
good to hear from soul tho
Complaining about crossover/“reach” songs is pointless. You can almost bet 99% of major albums from your faves will have a song like this. Just ignore and move on.
It’s not even that bad for a crossover. Not as bad as Overtime on Blank Face, if we wanna talk about a BAD crossover song
Joey using the Sing About Me drum break is bold. Kendrick pretty much owns that break

which song

Survivor’s Guilt. I’m pretty sure that’s the same drum break. Or a different sample from the same drum break, I know the pattern on it is slightly different but it’s essentially the same

I’m pretty sure it’s the same sample. It’s Use Me by Bill Withers

I think it’s just chopped up a little differently from Kendrick.
