What happened to the sLUMS collective? They were from up and down the east coast and based in NY if I remember correctly. I see them still dropping music are they not a crew anymore?

There is more unity on the east coast than some people believe. Even early last decade we saw a push. But the problem is they remained relatively underground. The biggest rapper we saw from that “Beast coast/New NewYork” movement to ascend was Rocky? Maybe Joey or Bronson. Yams day wa s similar concept to the Popout.. but we saw what
    Happened wit that.

Ultimately I think the east coast rn has plenty of movements and crews but it’s just a different ideology. On the east we are more concerned claiming out crew/hood/city/state first and not the coast overall. Compared to the west to where even niggas from Nevada and as claim the west COAST.

slUMs has essentially just turned into the label 10k which Mike is a big part of

    Definitely

Mfs slept on The Patience, but he was rapping like his life depended on it. 2000 was very middle of the road and safe…and his recent songs with Conductor are only a slight improvement.

    I don't think it's obvious but I'd agree

    I’d argue 2000 is better

production was safe but bouncing and he actually had some slick lines on there

these are the most vapid verses of his career

I remember I was pretty underwhelmed overall…Joey was rusty after taking so much time off after AABA and I just didn’t find the majority of the Statik Slecktah production to be interesting, very middle of the road, average boom bap beats that lacked bite.

But Zipcodes, Show Me, Survivors Guilt and maybe 1-2 more tracks were really good. Wasn’t an awful album overall, it was like a 6/10 for me.

On 2000, he was focused on reestablishing himself and getting back to rapping, and wasn’t trying to be competitive, so approaching the critiques in the music was different. Here, I actually vastly prefer the Conductor beats over most of the 2000 beats, but Joey as you said, isn’t pulling his weight at all. He’s been given a unique opportunity to prop himself up as an East Coast answer to Kendrick but this song is light pack.

Disappointing for me because even though I’m a West Coast dude, I do appreciate that dusty boom bap revival era of the early 2010s. Would love to see Joey come back with some of the energy he had on s*** like Survival Tactics and Christ Conscious. Or atleast step up the writing in a major way, and find some inspiration.

I thought Elephant in the Room was excellent, but then The Patience dropped and that s*** was just on a whole entire different level. In terms of pure raps, it's one of the best of the best rap albums of the decade so far in my opinion

Yeah he’s improved as a rapper 100% since The Waters. He’s in his creative prime as a rapper rn.

I get the sense that joey knows he can trick the casual rap fan into thinking he’s spitting bc he’s on a conductor beat

it’s a shame bc he’s getting a lot of buzz from these so if it was actually something special he could really make a run

    I recently stumbled upon them.

    This joint goes

Yeahhh yo I’ve seen em live a few times they bringing that feeling back but in an authentic way. Like they don’t try too hard to feel 2000s. Their last projects were fire

Elephant in the Room and The Patience are them ones. Maybe refresh yourself with Pieces of a Man as well that dropped in 2018. Still a very solid album
