We’re legit in an action movie golden age right now
In a little over a year we get this, Top Gun: Maverick AND Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Pt. I.
I can’t f***ing believe the consistency with this series. This and Mission Impossible are two series that I’m just constantly on the edge of my seat waiting for a bomb to drop up then they always just pull that s*** off and it’s never not mind breaking.
Twitter and hyperbole
Still excited for this one tho
Action movies especially never get THIS level of reception unless it’s legit.
Otherwise it’s the typical “It’s full of heart, has some good set pieces and funny moments”.
“One of the greatest of all time…” is not something that’s thrown around quite as much.
This is Top Gun: Maverick level praise here. Not new Marvel movie.

REAL CINEMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, they’re dropping the review embargo for this s*** on Monday.
A full 11 days in advance.
AHHHHHH THIS WAS F***ING INCREDIBLE
How were the visuals? They looked immaculate in the trailer, so I’m sure they held even more for the film.

From the reviews I’ve read they’re making this out to be one of the best looking actions films ever made.
Which doesn’t seem that absurd to me, the series has always looked great.
RINA SAWAYAMA !
i should rewatch the first 3 before this drops
Man, what a film, what a goddamn film. This is what going to the movies is all about. From the visuals/cinematography being top notch to the entertaining array of characters (Donnie Yen is an absolute standout in particular, as well as Rina Sawayama's character fairing pretty great) to the locations basically acting as secondary characters themselves , such as the Parisian action sequence towards the end in particular is exquisite in how it's executed to the setpieces getting more and more visceral and just downright explosively thrilling from start to end is just stupendously impressive.
Like, there's legit one scene that's straight up an isometric shooter that's mostly done in one take on some Fallout 2/Ruiner s\*\*\*, one of the most technically impressive scenes I've seen in ages. Do not miss this movie, it is a must watch on the big screen. 9.5/10
