The musical segments of this were the best part. Didn’t really care about the recap of the first movie. Gaga was underused and there was no reason for this to exist tbh.
With that being said I hate how all the blue check niggas act like losers are the main reason this first movie did a billion when Joker is like easily one of the most recognizable characters in all of IP and people just wanted to know what a Joker movie would look like.
The culture war narrative around this s*** is so tired
I hated the first movie, one of my least favorite films ever, but I still kinda wanna watch this
Todd phillips gets the last laugh. Writes an unwanted sequel that will make the studio burn cash only to retcon and ruin a beloved character. Props to him
Todd Philips is actually the joker here
Nigga what
We wanted a 80’s-90’s crime mob Gotham movie and because of whatever external factors outside of the actual movie we supposed to be happy we didnt get that
We’ve lost the plot and homie career should be derailed for playing like this with a property of that level just to make some weird statement to a small portion of the people who liked the first one lol
Did you see the first movie? There was never gonna be a film like that
Did you see the first movie? There was never gonna be a film like that
Nothing about that first movie and it’s ending screamed mafia s*** to me
Arthur don’t even got it like that to be running whole crews
is this a banter classic?
kind of, then act 3 stops being banter in any way shape or form
I just read the plot summary for this film and it feels like the point they were trying to get across was that even if he denounces the joker the joker will survive
Arthur denounces being the joker but it doesn’t matter because his own influence is already out there and it lead to his own death
Idk that pretty clearly seems to be the point to me but then again I haven’t seen the film 😭
i get their point, i agree with calling out people who idolize and enable guys like joker
but it could have been so much better. had a boring and miserable time
$200M for this, and pointless interwoven musical sequences. they looked and sounded great but added nothing to the plot whatsoever
What works: Phillip’s sweaty, desperate reckoning with his creation. This wrestling to atone provides at least some justification for the film’s existence, and like Arthur Fleck, he exits the film in a state of detox and confession. Joaquin does even better work here than the first go-around. He plays it more honest. Oh, and I f*** with the ending.
What doesn’t: Unfortunately, this is packaged in a woefully halfhearted musical and courtroom drama. Every number is croaked out in forgettable embarrassment. Tonally, it’s all over the place, and more than a little ridiculous. Any attempts at dramatic irony just fold into contrived, lifeless monotony. Gaga is a lovely screen presence, but she never amounts to much more than that. Something great could have been made from these pieces. Instead, it comes together like oil and water.
2.5 Stars
@twitch watching this tomorrow but watching a different man and the outrun before it

Did you see the first movie? There was never gonna be a film like that
They could have played out why this joker wasnt that throughout a movie lol
Niggas have gotten so artsy its f***ed the art lol
The hate for this movie is insane and blown out of proportion. This must be how drake fans felt when notnlike us dropped. I cant take this. F*** you all.
