Can you list the plot points that Joker lifts that you think are egregious? I’m genuinely curious, I don’t have the best memory for details.

Arthur being an aspiring mentally ill comedian idolizing a late night host who has no idea who he is and putting him through the ringer is straight up King Of Comedy s*** lol

Todd even got Robert DeNiro to play Jerry Lewis character

Do you even know what I’m arguing lmso

No s*** Penguin takes inspiration from Sopranos.

I’m saying plot point by plot point Joker is King Of Comedy for people who watch New Rockstar videos

So, to me, this still falls squarely into the category of “inspiration” because of how the film contextualizes and adds on to that original work. The tone is different, the characters are different, and it goes new places that shoot off from that initial similarity. You can make an argument for how mutating the DNA of a Scorsese movie and a comic book movie isn’t as novel as people think, but I personally don’t find this comparison enough to dismiss the film outright. I do think, despite the inspiration, it manages to find new wrinkles and even add its own iconography (Stairs dance, Bathroom dance) that give it its own space within pop culture.

Fan cam aside I wouldn't be shocked if they throw Margot a bag to bring her back for something soon

The tone and characters are different because it’s just a lesser imitation.

The movies not even saying anything fr message wise man lmao “if you bully a guy and push him to the edge he might snap” you don’t say lol

I don’t even hate Joker 2019 but the way people have tried to make it seem deeper than what it is sends me lol

You think so? I always felt like her return was imminent seeing how well received TSS was.

You could argue that Harley like her second most iconic role

Either way we are so back

Thinking about that initial slate Gunn revealed the only place I could've seen her being put in was the Amanda Waller show but even then I don't think Margot would do a whole HBO show.

If that Bane/Deathstroke project is Secret Six she could be in that

“Cop out”…it’s literally the director of the movie…he’s explaining his vision and it makes sense

    He’s a fraud

Doesn’t even know what the hell he was doing

Some of these directors can’t get way with their trash statements afterwards to save face

    The original announcement was:
Creature Commandos (coming out on Max on December 5)
    Superman (July 2025)
    Lanterns (HBO)
    Supergirl (June 2026)
    The Authority
Paradise Lost (WW Island Prequel on HBO)
    Waller (HBO)
The Brave & The Bold (Batman & Robin)
    Booster Gold (HBO)
Swamp Thing (directed by James Mangold)

Then through the press a Teen Titans film got announced, as well as that Bane/Deathstroke. Then Gunn announced an animated movie Dynamic Duo with D*** Grayson & Jason Todd. Not to mention The Batman 2 and whatever comes from that side.

It's a lot and I have no clue if all of it is going to happen, but I know Gunn said something like they won't go into production until they have a finished script.

You think a Waller series could set up another TSS joint? she’s pretty much tied to those movies at that point

I think that might lead into that Secret Six project

Not sure if we'll get another Suicide Squad named project. The last movie while good, flopped and the game just hurt the brand lmao

  • Oct 6, 2024

Came into the movie with very low expectations with all the bad reviews and not knowing anything bout the movie besides it being a musical (which i don't really like) cause I didn't watch any of the trailers or keep up with anything.

But this was a very enjoyable movie get rid of the musical numbers and this is a pretty great follow up imo

I honestly love musicals. I watched West Side Story at an early age and couldn’t get enough of it. La La Land is an all time favorite for me. There’s a time and a place for musicals. I haven’t watched this yet, but the thought of a Joker movie trying to be a musical just sounded like a mess to me and disinterested me from the jump. I was not surprised in the least to hear that’s how it turned out.
