Will have to read through thread eventually but I just watched this on Max and didn’t hate it. Tbh after rewatching the first one last night I don’t even think they’re that far in quality. Although Joaquin’s performance was better in the first since he was given more to do I may have preferred the story of this one. I’m not completely sure on that opinion yet though still too early

I do think they could’ve done a better job at incorporating the musical numbers and I did see that ending coming a mile away.

I think my main complaint is that the Joker x Harley relationship wasn’t given enough time to develop and the whole movie revolving around a court case about the events of the first movie made it start feeling like a recap the more we spent time in the courtroom

Doing a rewatch of both and it’s down right jarring watching joker 1 now, this s*** comes off so commercial and fan servicy by comparison as a movie

I’m ngl this is a good movie lol; the musical numbers fit great into the world distortion that Arthur deals with, of course he’d be easily gaslit by a girl, as a movie it kinda just works fr.

It honestly does a great job of just pushing that Arthur still thinks he’s funny and the guy the people think he is, but everytime he opens his mouth it’s him showing he’s just not that guy.

On second watch I’m even less sure how much of Harley Quinn was actually real, if any at all

The court case being an easy win for Arthur and him pretty much trying his hardest to “be the joker”, Lee being the villain of the movie works great cause she just repeats the cycle of abuse his mom did but since it’s a love interest he’s never had, it breaks his mind even more.

Like yes obv the ending, but the first movie’s ending sets up him just being patient zero

Just watched this it would’ve been much better without the musical sections
