They gassing this up a tad

We saw the same initial reactions to Thor: Turd in Blender, so gotta take this with a grain of salt

Yea one thing you learn pretty quick is to not completely trust these early reactions. They are almost always very optimistic and positive, but usually don’t bring up the flaws in a film

But I still have hope that this will end up being better than people expect

Got a colleague who stans Gaga and didnt even watch the first one. Only watching this cos of Gaga. I will hate watch her performance regardless of how good she is

  • Sep 4, 2024

I do really respect Todd for taking such a big swing though. We don’t see enough risk taking in the superhero genre.
So even if this ends up being underwhelming, at least he tried to do something new

“ What a disappointment. Lady Gaga's performance was so cringeworthy, as it often is in her films, but her star power seems to overshadow any criticism. The musical numbers were lackluster, relying too heavily on close-ups instead of dynamic choreography.”

“ Really boring movie where the ‘musical numbers’ (you can barely call them that) merely punctuate what’s already happened and never advance the story”

“It’s not a movie, it’s JOKER 1 ending. So it felt like an appendix, not a movie that can stand for itself. A structure and characters lack. Gaga is just there… singing and serving some movie plot points. The musical part, as a language for craziness, was original at the beginning but it was than used too many times.
Felt like there was very little to say or to add.”

“Here’s why a sequel to a successful movie should never be made: this film ruined the original Joker for me. All the rebellion and defiance embodied by the Joker in the first film has been reduced to a meek, weak man who ultimately conforms to society, written in the worst way. The imagined musical sequences were utterly devoid of logic or any narrative purpose. While the performance of Joaquin Phoenix were undeniably intense and masterful, it only served to highlight Lady Gaga’s lack of experience, especially when placed alongside such a strong actor. The writing is such a mess. Hildur Guðnadóttir’s score was the film’s best feature—grander than in the first movie, but at times overwhelming. Overall, a huge disappointment.”

this joker has always been a meek, weak loser idk how u can go into this movie expecting anything more than that

  • “Please stop singing,” Joker whispers pleadingly at one point, summing up the viewers thoughts.

This is gonna be a huge mess omg

    “ Venice 2024 No. 40:
A memorable sequel! Starts like experimental One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest-American in Paris met fairy-tale asylum musical. Step by step it's turning to acid Astaire-Rogers journey in Primal Fear. Joaquin Phoenix is another level, he's turning from one face to another to fight against justice! He can challenge Gene Kelly & Edward Norton! (7/10)”

“ Dir. Todd Phillips was not letting the sky be his limit with this one because trust me, this movie goes really high on the scale for how masterfully its crafted.
From its performances from Phoenix & Gaga Phoenix channels his inner Johnny Cash, the incredible soundtrack - with the addition of Hildur Gudnadottir's score which is again a guaranteed oscar-winner, this sequel over-exceeds expections by a landslide.
All the negative reviews are legitimate rubbish. Trust me. Do not let these nitpicking, anton ego wannabe critics influence your opinion on this film. You'll see what I mean when you watch it.“

“ Lady Gaga gives the best performance of the year! Joaquin shines too but she is in another level of performance.... The directing of Todd Philips is not as good as the first movie but the actors really gave life to that script!”

“ Just got out of the film screening in Venice and I will say this: an insane concept to make this a musical but what’s even more insane that it just works. Sure the directing is a little clunky but it works so well as a sequel. Lady Gaga in particular is terrific. Can’t wait for the rest of the world to see this!”

Here nigga damn. Positive and negative reviews get posted all over film sxn but now its a problem lol
