because of the profitability, do you guys think warner bros will try to force Joaquin's joker into the upcoming batman movies?

Not sure how possible it is without retcon of the existing Joker movie entirely, unless, they write Reeve's script in a way that puts it in Joker's universe somehow

Yeah I see that being a given since JP has expressed desire to continue the part already, and if expanded it'll just only get better.

Im really glad that a movie with such a "low" budget (compared to other studio and cbm these days) can turn in a huge profit. Maybe they will make less 300 million dollar movies that looks like f***ing s***.

couldn't they just make this take place in the past and kinda make joker ageless so he just looks the same in the batman movie? maybe he breaks out of arkham or whatever and pattison batman has to deal with him

  • Nov 8, 2019

Also, a movie with actual f***ing sets and without 90% cgi made big f***ing money

know i sound like a grumpy cinephile b**** but idc idc

This gonna be the first R rated movie to cross a billion in the box offce

Ageless? Ion know about all that. This movie takes place in the 1981, Bruce becomes Batman at about age 26 and was 8 when his parents dies. Arthur is about 30, so he would be 48 if this new Batman is young as they say he will be.. wouldn't make sense to keep him essentially ageless especially since with age he becomes a more developed character..

TLDR too many continuity issues, not going to happen

Remember when #cancelledt Twitter and the media were saying this movie was going to create an loser uprising so dangerous that it would blot out the Sun only for the only thing to happen was tourists taking pictures on stairs?

It’s only the most profitable cbm movie if youre considering ROI.

WB also won’t take home all the profits since the movie was co financed with 1 or 2 other production companies.

Not trying to downplay the movie’s crazy success but this article is a little misleading. By this logic, Deadpool is more profitable than Black Panther and that’s not true.

    Joker reached a billion+ and

    • Is currently the 43rd highest grossing film
    • Surpassed The Dark Knight (44)
    • Second highest grossing Batman movie, highest TDKR (by 68million$)
    • First R rated film to hit a billion
    • 7th highest grossing film of the year in just a month

Prospective: TDKR earned $52.8 million in China
With the insane hype Joker has, if it ever got a Chinese release (don't worry, it won't) it could potentially see 60-70 million in additional box office gross just from that region (and it's still doing numbers)

Potentially the only thing stopping this from being a top <30 grossing film of all time is a market specific arbitrary ban

That's actually insane to think about for a film with its budget, cuz its the lowest budget film in in the top 43 by at least 40 million dollars and WB genuinely expected a lukewarm reception with a return but nothing this crazy

Is this the product of some of the best viral marketing we've ever seen or is the Batman universe truly the most profitable film series that hasn't been fully tapped into yet going forward - and what does it mean for the future of BM films.

Reeves' is going to be on high alert to profit after this and WB might get in their capitalism bag to force Joker into some of the new DC films, we'll see

It's a mix of both tbh no other hero universe has as many iconic villains and vharacters people would actually watch solo as Batman.

As for the marketing it was like Straight Outta Compton where the hate and fear beforehand was the best tool that coulda been used.

A perfect storm of brand and conversation turned this into a runaway hit.

No other Batman film will do these numbers imo buy I can see alot of success on the "small budget" Batman adaptions.

Edit-Would like to point out Gotham on Fox proved how strong the Batman gallery is without him

Nightwing as a Daredevil type show,Clayface as a horror film,Catwoman as a series or film done well.

There's alot of potential hell do a Riddler show like Dexter or Hannibal
