They most certainly have backups in cold storage, even if its a bit old still not gone for good. If anything I'd say at max maybe the past month is gone

Facebook has pushed back on those claims.
The interview followed weeks of reporting about and criticism of Facebook after Haugen released thousands of pages of internal documents to regulators and the Wall Street Journal. Haugen is set to testify before a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday.

Why can’t u trust cloud? It’s reasonable method for big sites like this ? Ain’t google on clouds too? That’s why it never goes down cuz there is always a back up of some sort
What I mean is that they must have it backed up on the cloud AND a physical backup too
