Before Toji died he told Gojo that Megumi was to be sold to the clan and do as he pleases with that. “No Zenin” lets him know that Megumi rejected the clan and chose their own last name (Fushiguro) and that Gojo saved him.

The manga approached Toji's dialogue w Megumi way better imo. The manga made it feel like he was handing Megumi over for Megumi's sake because Toji knew he wouldn't be able to take care of him, this episode made it feel solely like a transaction.
