What I realized that makes one piece so addictive is that oda makes it very apparent where the story will go, which u could say is a flaw but for me it makes the anticipation so much greater, even in the dull moments u know it will be worth it later when luffy fights some top tier like akainu or kaido etc

I do agree with you, but I also think it's crazy to praise the man for his female characters. Like, sure, he does it better than his peers, but still, the bar is in hell. Like sure, Maki is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. But the way Gege handled other female characters like Nobara and Yuki (who are, supposedly, big players in the story) definitely wasn't great. Not to mention, early on, a lot of people found it super refreshing how he never really sexualized the female characters.. and then Uro and Yorozu showed up.

I agree we shouldnt overly praise him. I think gege genuinely just treats the female cast like the men there is just less of them overall.

And to your other point. I mean its kinda funny since JJK most lusted after characters are literally all men lmfao. Sure Uro is naked (I think she is meant to be translucent tho) and there are those couple yorozu panels. But look at tojis waste. Look at every panel with Geto in it. And my god Takaba is half naked vertically.
With sexualizing characters I would also mention that its really just part of their character. Nobara, Yuki, Maki neither of them were ever forcibly sexualized. As you said the bar is LOW.

But the men are fanservice-y / attractive in a different way. I just think it's different when it comes to female characters (vs. males) because in this type of media, they usually do get oversexualized at every turn. Tbh, Gege not doing pantie shots and not having his female characters walk around with their t\*\*\* out is a victory in itself. I'm glad you brought up Oda because there really is no excuse or need for that s\*\*\*.

Oh, and Gege also gets points for his gender non-binary characters like Kirara and Uraume. I def sense some Togashi inspo there.

Thats the thing tho, im not praising him but his writing in that sense is definitely not bad, the problem is that people created the narrative that JJK has the best female cast ever in any media!!
