Before that, Gojo had no care for the curses killing humans and making disfigured humans to attack him. It was only when he would be forces to use his own technique to kill humans where he hesitated. Gojo isn't a hero, he's an arrogant guy just doing his job who loves power. We fall for his charm throughout the series but that's always been who he is

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this theory more widespread but I saw on tik tok a theory that jujutsu sorcery during sukunas period was more powerful because sorcerers were not only aware of their own souls but they were able to utilize them to varying degrees as well

And we know sukuna can perceive / protect his soul so potentially he has the ability to modify it as well which in turn modified his body into his perception of a perfect jujutsu machine
