So he knew he would survive it and kill them but only if he got a counterattack off (which at first he wasn’t going to since they were holding his hands). If Megumi wasn’t refusing to leave then they would’ve won, he is the reason it backfired.

You need to see someone interact with a sibling they loss to feel bad? That’s not how sympathy works. I think it’s simply you’re not invested in Megumi to care. He also loss more than just his sister to understand why he is broken. Seeing him wrecked and unable to have the will to live should elicit a feeling of sadness for him if you liked the character a bit. He loss his sister, adopted dad, and went got his body hopped to commit atrocities. That’s just tragic in writing, you don’t need to see anything more.
