The thing about Julian is that he's been co-writing Strokes stuff since Angles and i'm pretty sure Voidz stuff is the other guys too.

Pretty sure the majority of it is by him though but ehhhh

Both are amazing songwriters that don’t afraid to experiment and deserve the received praise not only for the band they started in, but also for great solo material and ambitious work in their side groups.

Julian plays guitar and piano. He just didn’t want to do both live because he felt it restricted him as a frontman.

He co-wrote songs yeah or just the lyrics really on the last 2 strokes album. But the best songs on those albums you’ll notice he gets sole credit

As far as live shows go I'd say Alex is much better, it might be just recent shows but even the rest of the bandmates in The Strokes seem to get annoyed by Julian lol.
Julian does have great emotional timbre to his voice. It's somberness really makes songs like Under Control and Is This It so good. I just don't think he could do a vocal performance as impressive as 505

With the strokes nowadays does he just phone it in? Yeah. Kinda sucks tbh lol But back in the 2000s and with the voidz now he still sounds great. I think he’s just really over those songs.
