Anyone find merit in the work and ideas of carl jung?
I find his writing on the shadow, individuation and the collective unconsciousness pertinent and helpful
i think we can all look inside and realise our fulfilment comes from ourselves, wonder if anyone else knows anything?
JBP idolises him so I hate him
eh thats idiotic tbh you should judge him based of his work

Yeah surely if you dislike JBP, its a motive to investigate Nietszche, Jung and Dostoyevsky and cut him out of it
Yeah, very pertinent in Star Wars
Eh idk. I'm aware nome of his ideas are scientifically verified, anyone saying its factual shouldn't be taken seriously
But I find it kind of helps me look inwards myself, like objectively there's no scientific basis for these ideas, however thinking about them kinda shines a light on issues in my life which very much are recognised as formative

Idk, I think I'd apply it to art before myself. Haven't heard a lot of interesting applications of it outside of art tbf.
You should Carl your girl to Jung these nuts
Haven't had one for a month now, showed her the door

I think it's interesting for cultural and artistic a***ysis (as said elsewhere in the thread), but I don't think much of his psychoanalysis stuff (much like the wider field itself) holds a ton of value. That said I do think there's some interesting stuff in his work to maybe pick at for interesting conversations if anything. A lot of his ideas are really just watered down secular versions of concepts you find in eastern & vedic traditions though.

Some believe that quantum physics will eventually validate some of Jung's ideas.
Freud >>>
Freud is the OG but Jung took his concepts and ran with them. Took them to another level.
wish I knew more, any books to start with?
