The downfall started in the sequel when dinosaurs became the story instead of servicing the story like in the first film. We are basically watching Chris Pratt and dinosaurs now.

I’m one of the few who loved Jurassic World. Fallen Kingdom sucked, this looks like a return to JW. Won’t have s*** on the original, but could still end up being top 2-3 of the series.

When it came out it was mostly considered a comeback for the franchise. It hasn't aged great but at the time it came out a lot of people enjoyed it.

For example, in the first movie the raptors are these smart animals that collaborate as a team, in the second movie these animals are stupid and in the third movie they are smart again
