I think we should have had a cap a while ago.
We as a species just keep expanding and are running down the limited resources the planet has for us and the ecosystem more and more each day.

this is lame pessimism at best.
there's more than enough resources to sustain the population of humanity as is. the difference is that instead of forms of sustainability and indigeneity the current ruling hegemony demands resource extraction at the highest speed physically possible.
a better world is possible, it just requires radical change. but it's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.

The Chinese are pretty self sufficient right now, the collapse of the west is a good launch point for them to spread socialism through the third world before figuring out how to handle the burning garbage pile of America and Europe
